UBC School of Architecture -
Schools (Canada)
Only 30 minutes from the heart of downtown
Vancouver, the School of Architecture is surrounded
by some of the most stunning attractions that the
city offers. From the studio space, one can enjoy
views of both the mountains and the Burrard Inlet;
while a short walk brings one to the the Nitobe
Japanese Gardens, the UBC Botanical Gardens or the
adjoining 763 hectare Pacific Spirit Regional Park,
with its many beaches and trails.
The School of Architecture exists within the
University of British Columbia's Faculty of Applied
Science, and offers graduate education in both
professional and research degree programmes: the
Master of Architecture [MArch] and the Master of
Advanced Studies in Architecture [MASA]
respectively. In partnership with the Department of
Landscape Architecture, the School also offers an
undergraduate design programme, the Bachelor of
Environmental Design [EnD]. The School is justly
proud of maintaining a collegial environment well
suited to self-motivated, intellectually curious
students. A student enrollment of approximately 150

encourages a high degree of direct contact and the
kind of critical support so crucial to mature
enquiry. Students in the School represent a broad
array of cultural backgrounds, representing the
diverse social fabric of Canada alongside a
substantial proportion of international students.
We welcome your interest in the School of
Architecture and hope that you will find the

Unitec School of Architecture - Schools
(Australia/NZ)
At Unitec, our mission is to inspire people to
discover and apply their intellectual and creative
potential and contribute responsibly to their
societies and cultures. We educate people for work,
we educate people in work, and we ensure that the
skills and attributes of our graduates are
recognised and respected both nationally and
internationally. At Unitec students learn to reason,
adapt, innovate, communicate and grow so they can
respond to rapid changes in the workforce and
society and can return to study - if the desire or
the need is there.
The demand for postgraduate and professional
development programmes has brought rapid change to
Unitec. Although we are committed to maintaining a
broad educational profile, more than 55 percent of
our enrolments are at degree level and above and we
have increasing numbers of postgraduate students.
We respond to the needs of our students by offering
flexible and online learning options. Nearly 4,000
students are enrolled in courses supported by online
learning, and the Internet is used to develop and
submit assignments and encourage feedback on
coursework from both students and staff. Providing
courses in block-mode at weekends or during school
holidays means that we can match the timeframes and
schedules of our masters and postgraduate students.
We look forward to the future, to strengthening our
partnerships with all our students, with industry,
and with the professions and the communities we
serve. Unitec will continue to be a place of
possibilities.
